Step back in time with us at the 1938 built Hippodrome Theatre.

You are invited to the Hippodrome in the old Market Town of March in Cambridgeshire. The Hippodrome was built in 1938, which has been left virtually untouched, with many beautiful art deco features.

This is a wonderful opportunity to go back in time to March1944. This event will take place on March 7th 2009 at 13.30hrs until late.

Come back in time to 1944 at the Hippodrome. This venue built in 1938 is still mainly art deco remaining virtually untouched with a wonderful atmosphere. 

We will be opening the doors at 13.30 on Saturday 7th of March 2009 for a one day event only. From 15.00 we will be showing a film from 1942, until 1700hrs. After the film we will be serving a meal in the top floor lounge of the theatre. Between 1700-18.30 you can enjoy your meal and relax to entertainment by Paul Harper. At 18.30 the evening entertainment starts starring STICKYWICKET AND HIS BIGBAND. LOLA and WOODY.

We also have two licenced bars , (will open at 17.00 until last orders at 23.30).

Tea/coffee available with biscuits at 13.30 onwards.

STICKYWICKET AND HIS BIGBAND AND Serena Howard-Douglas

A Brief History

The Nine Piece Band was formed by (ex - Chris Barber) 'Drummer Extraordinaire', Alan 'Sticky' Wicket in the year 2000. Debuting at The 100 Club London in January 2001, they appeared under the name 'The Little Big Band'. Since then, they have performed at major festivals & Swing-Dance events all over the UK, including The Savoy Ball, The Swing-Jam, Marlborough Jazz Festival, Blenheim Palace, The Glitter Ball, Jitterbugs and regular visits to The 100 Club. They also appeared on the BBC TV Homeground documentary 'We'll Meet Again' and met up with The Jiving Lindyhoppers with whom they have collaborated on stage shows.

The 2003 Savoy Ball saw the inauguration of the Fourteen Piece Band by request of the Savoy Ball organiser, Swingland's Martin Ellis. In the wake of this success, the Swing Orchestra was born.

PETROU Brothers from Chatteris- who also have a shop in Leverington- have been revealed as the UK's best chippy at the National Fish & Chip Shop of the Year competition at a London ceremony today (Wednesday 24 January).

Mark and Pete, owners of Petrou Brothers, were presented with the award by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott, at the grand final of the competition organised by industry body Seafish.
